Platinum/palladium standard thermocouples
They are used both as working standards and as reference standards. The special feature of this very high-temperature thermocouple is the junction of the thermocouple wires without mechanical stresses. The special design ensures stress-free expansion for the platinum and palladium wires. The different coefficients of thermal expansion of the two thermocouple wires are compensated without mechanical stresses by changing the Seebeck coefficient.
